every friday hugg & pepp sits down to have their mid day break after having a sturdy lunch at the partymakers. pepp is usually not late to suggest that something sweet should be consumed during this time in order to get inspiration and joy. hugg, who is also known for his sense of culinary experiences sometimes surprises pepp with exciting creations from all corners of the world. this particular friday, the team has choosen the mormors hosta, a typical swedish bread in wich a special yellow fudge, the hosta, can be found in the middle of this delicious bakery dedicated to our beloved grandmother. pepp, who is specially found of the hosta, also suggested that the two would make a tribute to grandfather so they wrapped the mormorshosta in a farfarskofta into a roll, then split it in half and feasted on this magnificent little piece in a cheerful mood. after this, filled up and satisfied they returned to their mystery machine and started to feed it with this new recepie. at first the machine returned some strange messages but after correcting the proportions between the amount of hosta and bread the machine successfully coughed up a banging bassline.

the beginning of year three in the adjunct chronicles is marked by a 12inch by our own apendics.shuffle. kenneth james gibson has been bombarding the techno scene consistently for the past few years. u_derline, orac, friends of tomorrow, mos ferry, sunset diskos among other labels have served as the carrier for kens deadly weapons. remix duties are taken on by the one and only mathias schaffhäuser , a renowned techno superstar and the founder of ware records. there couldnt have been a better title than >no reduction< to literary describe this monster of a track - ken has unleashed the entire arsenal of his studio for the creation. stern synth patterns pizzicato their way through the track, deep sea signals ring in the background, distorted vocal snippets insist on taking >all the money<. energetic and magnetic dancefloor number dedicated to the real freaks. mathias approaches the rework with smooth drumming and a velvet bassline. the cheeky cabaret vibe however never settles: the diabolical pizzicato of the original returns and the voices continue their demands for (what all adds up to in the end) >no reduction<. oblivious filth brings yet another layer to this joint. beautifully crafted sounds mingle with electro-mechanical noises, layers of melting textures lure the listener into a late night wonderland

sure bomb !! dj support - carl craig, adam beyer, dubfire, monika kruse, shinedoe, christian smith, len faki ... this is the second of 2 fat remix records on drumcode of the 2 most popular tracks taken from the dc10 years album compilation last year. this release sees the truly awe inspiring >do us part< track from par grindvik get 2 classy overhauls from 2 producers of the moment - len faki and 2000 and one. lens remix is a real floor burner cleverly weaving hook parts of the original around a simple driving drum and bassline groove before building cleverly and introducing a harder hook later on to devastating efffect. on the flipside dylan aka 2000 and one adds his typical funky dutch trademark by using the same trippy synth hooks but also adding funky bass patterns and warped synth fx.

the tracks from the recently released full length of nublu orchestra beg for remixes, and the underground resistance militiamen take up the task for sketches of nyc. the i 80 mix is a big thumper, using a scatted vocal line and dissonant horn hits from the original to add drama to the build of an acid bassline and some tastefully tribal drums. the seventh tunnel mix falls squarely in the tech jazz genre that was essentially invented by the detroit collective. the original elements of sketches are used generously, with what seems like a grace note on the upright being turned into a looped bassline, over which the lead vocals and saxophone ping back and forth. must have!!

impressive debut ep from new duo bearweasel are a new production duo, consisting of dean muhsin and louisa page. with a remix already out on perc trax they debut with this superb ep for audioflys new label. opening track >monkier< is brilliant. combining a touch of latin percussion with swollen basslines and brilliant horn stabs scattered througout its one of my favourite tracks of recent months. second track >drummer< is just as good – its wonky techhouse with a funky bassline and small-but-effective breakdown. remix of >monkier< comes from my favourite hamburg-based croatian, solomun. his version takes it deeper, with a lazier attitude but a warm vibe. a quality debut and a duo to watch out for in 2008.

lurifax aka peter visti is known for his love of balearic music. peter is now signed to eskimo recordings where his first ep >balearic love< was a favourite with djs such as todd terje, prins thomas and superstar dj tiga. following on from >balearic love<, mindless boogie released peter visti edits of >jolene<, which went on to be a balearic smash throughout the summer of 2007 and got playlisted by rob da bank on bbc radio one. now peter adopts a new guise as lurifax to drop his debut release for spacetalk records. >afro beach< takes the listener back to the glory days of the balearic scene of the late 80s and early 90s driven by a mellow groove and some choice recorder and accordion parts with hints of detroit in the bassline. on the flip, >need someone< is trademark peter visti, a languid mid-80s throbber that takes in a wonderful guitar solo. a worthy third release to follow on from the success of spacetalks first two releases from kaine and future beat alliance

step forward dubfire (aka ali shirazinia from grammy winning dj and production duo deep dish) whos already hit top form this summer with some tasty releases on desolat, funkwelle.net and whose thumping >emissions< features on the minus compilation >expansion contraction<. the beauty of this rework is that it doesnt stray far from the original vibe. dubfire pays the track the full respect it deserves, adding contemporary beats, bass and hat patterns, subliminal efx and tweaks that perfectly compliment the eq sweeps and machine gun snare rolls of the original. panikattack (originally released on plus 8 in 1996 as the b side to sickness) gets a more radical overhaul with guido schneider turning in a typically pragmatic version. by excavating and enhancing the gritty funk that lies buried under the feverish textures of the original, he discovers a totally new dimension. combining the plastik elements with his own trademark swing and razor sharp percussion programming, schneider coaxes the track out of the shadows for some serious peak time action as the bassline bounds forward relentlessly occasionally enveloped by stuttering delays, to negotiate its way through the dubbed out breakdown and on to the end

the second excentric music comes from labelboss fergie himself and he delivers two strong peaktime orientated and driving synth bassline laden techno monsters

his style is a fascinating mix of house, electro and techno including all sub genres. after his debut album alles wird gut on beatmodul records in early 2007, which was supported by djs like steve angello or sebastien leger this track has a lugging electro bassline with a stomping kick in the beginning. squired by a discreet tricky melody which works with several highs and depths the track is getting a brandnew style from the middle on which gives it a big kick. as remixers we could manage the swedish superstar jeff bennett (malmo) and kaiser souzai.

this time hertz is back with a funk fuelled energy bomb that balance in between an old school vibe ala 1998 and a fresh approach for 2008. expected support from a wide range of djs. on the filp you will find a track with a repetitive acid-sounding bassline but without the 303. this is rather a fresh synth that gets the tweeking. on the b2, you find a pierre j remix that takes care of the house-ier sounds

here comes the next strike on musica diaz toro. its collaboration of thomas gold and chriss ortega. together with vocalist evo they produced a true peak-time bomb with a strong electronic bassline, slammin beats, nice chords and some hypnotic but funky vocals. including high-class remix by noir (toolroom, noir music)

its almost 4 years to the day that jeff samuels >throatwobbler mangrove ep< was released on karloff #03, and even today the four world hits of the record are getting digged out by djs, when the minimalism needs to either groove or jack again. so now with >return of the throatwobbler< theres finally an appropriate follow-up by the man from seattle.. erm.. berlin, after he’s impressively run riot in the meantime, on labels like spectral, trapez, poker flat, frankie and logistic. the a-side >terso< is shuffling and twirling and bouncing in such a winsome way that not many can master like jeff samuel. almost like an electric ray - left and right and left, and without letting any tempting gimmicks take the mind off the straight path. appropriately enough, >the spook< on the b-side comes along a bit more spookily, with a bassline twisting into the brain, ripped up by miniatures of bleeps and chords just in the right moments, and thus leading the track to an agile, exhilarated climax

after his first release on flash recordings together with daso on the night express ep, pawas is now back with his very own three-track ep on the label of koletzki & meindl. all tracks were created in pune in india, pawas’ hometown, and the ep is about three different characters. alicia, charlie and edward. each one of them has a certain distinctive vibe about them: alicia is deep and eloquent, edward is more hectic and restless while charlie seems the funky and witty sort. in terms of music, edward is carried on a powerful, deep synthie melody, a big breathing bassline and some great percussive clicks and clacks that turn into a slightly ravey minimal burner later on in the tune. very hot! edward is a little lighter and is pushed forward by a great funky melody that creates the perfect after hour moment. imagine yourself on the beach when the sun is coming up. alicia on the a side is a deeper, more housy affair has a melodic, percussive and detroity appeal. pawas has managed to create a very fresh and unique signature sound and with releases on squonk, connaisseur and flash records, 2007 seems to be the year for him.
